BACKGROUND
Rick Meyer is a Palm Coast resident that has a passion for fitness and feeding kids. At 74 years old, Rick's weekly training includes weight lifting, yoga and martial arts. In the evening, he teaches women's self defense classes. He is also a volunteer for Provision Packs and has the responsibility for Flagler County. Provision Packs provides weekend meal packages for children that receive the majority of their meals at school during the week and do not have a reliable food source on weekends. Next fall, Provision Packs will feed approximately 750 children in seventeen elementary schools every week during the school year. INJURY Last fall, Rick tore his left bicep while competing in a powerlifting event. He had surgery in October and his doctors gave him the ok to began rehab in January. Nutrition was an important part of the plan. Rick stated "I always ate three clean meal during the day but was not very disciplined between meals". That's when he was introduced to OWYN protein shakes. All of their shakes are 100% plant based and free from the top 8 allergens. The key to me was their shakes tastes great and it felt like I was having desert for my between meal snacks." |
PARTNERSHIP
"Most of the women in my self defense classes want to lose weight, reduce fat and build muscle. They were apprehensive of plant based products because of their experiences with the taste. So, I conducted taste tests and 98% said that the product had a smooth taste and that
they would purchase it especially if it would help feed kids" So, Rick contacted the Sales and Marketing personnel at OWYN and they said that they were "all in".
